When I wrote “To God”, the imagery was of war. Brave soldiers in branches of the Army, the Air Force, the Navy, the Marine Corps, the Coast Guards, the unknown secret servicemen and more. I thought of all wars that have transpired in history, many of which we are completely unaware.
In my mind’s eye I imagined their isolation from loved ones. Our ancestors fighting with their comrades in arms. Likely they landed on the shores of their enemy, or defended their homeland, pressured, hungry and maybe a bit frightened of their future.
We are so lucky that these men and women continue to serve and protect us, fight for our freedoms, I am so thankful for them with all of my heart.
I’m also grateful we have our first responders (Police, Firemen, Medical Professionals and more) here to help us now on this new frontline, this new present we are living in. I pray each of you and your families outlive this, that we learn from our mistakes and we continue to care and protect each other, and our world moving forward.
I know some of us are feeling isolated, feeling desolate perhaps but please know, there is hope! We will get through this together. You are not alone!
