Canadian Beats Magazine Reviews Mean Jolene

Mean Jolene was written as a response to a story that never really ends. While the original Jolene captures the raw fear of losing love, I found myself curious about what happens after, when time passes, patterns repeat and perspective settles in. This song lives in that aftermath.

This song isn’t about bitterness or blame. It’s about the realization that sometimes the thing you thought you lost was actually the thing that set you free.
